Never thought that I'd be writing my first blog as a film's review. But its unusual uniqueness has obliged me to write one.
Yes, I'm talking about that rarest film from India which wasn't as hyped as most of the bollywood movies are exaggerated & presented with a promise of enkindling you... Yet, SHIP OF THESEUS outbalances these overstated flicks with ease.
Comprising of 3 brilliantly introspected stories, SOT turns out to be the best film India has ever attempted to produce. Starting off with the story of a female photographer, who likes to experiment by clicking some unprecedented images with her camera on the thronged streets of Mumbai, the director necessitates you to be emotionally smitten with her. So what's so extraordinary about this girl which draws in your attention? I was completely astonished to know that she was blind... You read that right... A blind girl having indefinite passion for this visual pursuit !
Subsequent stories of an ailing monk and then, of an ambitious stockbroker, leaves a non-abating impact on you.
Though I'm refraining from disclosing the minutia of the film, would like to add that each portion of the film is so deliberately filmed, that it never seems an artificial work. Realistically directed by Anand Gandhi, all 3 stories are showcased with sharpened astuteness. Performances by all the actors and especially the three leads is unaccountably adept to the core !
Ship Of Theseus effuses its superiority and fills you with contemplation. Long since I heard a thunder of applause after a film's conclusion. I've already exited the auditorium, but the film might never vacate my mind. Watch it to explore a cinema's transcendency and of your own existence.
Highly recommended !!
